Biography

Attorney Meghan Thorp graduated from Ithaca College in 2004 cum laude and went on to receive her J.D. from New England School of Law (now New England Law Boston) in 2007. While at New England School of Law, Ms. Thorp was a member of the Women's Law Caucus and the Children and the Law Society, and she volunteered as a mentor to other students. During law school, Ms. Thorp also interned at the Committee for Public Counsel Services in the Children and Family Law Program and at a well-known Metrowest law firm, where she focused on domestic relations law and practiced for over six years after graduating from law school. In 2013, Ms. Thorp joined Baskin & Associates, LLC, which became Baskin Kershner & Thorp, LLC in 2019, where she represents clients in all areas of family law. Ms. Thorp also provides mediation services, including attorney-assisted mediation, as an alternative to litigation.


Ms. Thorp is a certified Guardian ad Litem. She has been appointed by the Probate and Family Court to serve as Guardian ad Litem, Special Purpose Guardian ad Litem, Discovery Master, and attorney for children. She is a volunteer for the Probate and Family Court Lawyer for the Day and the Attorneys Representing Children (ARC) programs. She authored the article "Understanding the Patient-Psychotherapist Privilege," which was published in the Boston Bar Association's Winter 2019 Family Law Newsletter and has co-chaired and served on panels of various CLE programs. Ms. Thorp is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and is a member of the Massachusetts Family and Probate American Inn of Court, Boston Bar Association, Greater Boston Family Law Inn of Court, Massachusetts Bar Association, and Women's Bar Association. She is also on the planning committee for the Women's Bar Association's annual Gala. Ms. Thorp was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2020 and 2021. She was named one of the Top Lawyers of 2021 and one of the Top Women Attorneys in Massachusetts Rising Stars, both published in Boston Magazine in 2021.
